Salaam brothers and sisters,
I wanted to talk about something which is difficult to talk about. Pornography. I feel like it is difficult to escape it in our society. I think I may have an addiction to it.
But you know I was just thinking and I realised that I am usually strong and bear tribulation with patience (don't want to be the kind of person that the Qu'ran describes as someone who only does good when things are easy in his life). But when I'm really tested, I often turn to pornography for comfort. It's sad, but I've done it my whole life. In fact, I think it started from beauty magazies and books that were at home when I was growing up (my parents were quite secular).
The shaytan comes and whispers to me in times of tribulation....I get anxious, confused etc and I seek comfort to feel like myself again. I used to tell myself that as long a I did my best to resist, that is all Allah (swt) would ask of me. But the truth that I am realising more and more is that I choose to follow my nuffs even in situations that I feel are beyond me. And in that sense, it is as bad as following your nuffs when everything is going well.
I don't know what do people out there think?

Re: Beng Tested
I think this a is a situation most muslim males face. I think we are subjected to so many images of women in graphic images that it becomes part of our subconscious as well as making us lust for these scandily clad women who look so tempting under lights and with so much smack on their faces as well as after undergoing numerous surgeries.
I think the key aspect to is to see the women as women with very little self respect and self worthiness and that by objectifying them to women you fantasise about you are lowering their statuses as women even further.
The best practical solution is to keep your gaze down whenever you see a woman, so to keep your head clear of any lewd images.

Salaam
Being a woman myself, I'm quite disturbed to hear that you have an addiction to pornography. However, in the society we live in, its nothing new, women are plastered around everywhere: bill boards, tv, the net etc so its easy to become attracted to these things
I have to agree that these women, have no self resepect whatsoever, they are happy to perfom sexual acts for the world to see...its disgusting. They don't have any sense of self worth and tbh i find it quite pathetic that a woman has to go to such low standards.
All I can suggest is that you find something halaal to comfort your self with.
Maybe read a verse of The Quran? Or do Dua?
Also, try and think of how you feel AFTER you hav watched an 'episode' guilty? disturbed? And maybe by taking those feelings into account you will come to stop.
Having said that though, you are addicted and it cold take you a while to come off this addiction...try and find new things to do....play football/snooker with friends.....go to the gym....go boxing...doing something productive can be a great way of comforting yourself.
Take care
